Five ways to build a bedtime reading habit that lasts

Start absurdly small. Two pages counts. The goal is the ritual, not the volume.

Let them re-read the same book for the ninetieth time. Repetition is how young readers build fluency and safety.

Read the pictures. Ask what a character might be feeling before you read the words on the page.

Keep books where hands can reach them — a basket beats a high shelf every time.

Let them catch you reading. Nothing teaches faster than being witnessed.
